City of Duluth to Proceed with Annexation of Midway Township
City of Duluth To Proceed With Consideration of an Orderly Annexation Agreement with Midway Township. Mayor Don Ness announced today that the City of Duluth will proceed with consideration of an Orderly Annexation Agreement with Midway Township. A Resolution approved by the Town Board of Midway Township on December 20th, Midway Township has initiated a conversation with the City of Duluth to consider adoption of a Joint Resolution authorizing an Orderly Annexation Agreement governing the possible future annexation of Midway Township by the City of Duluth. Mayor Ness, CAO David Montgomery, Director of Planning Services Keith Hamre, City Attorney Gunnar Johnson, Assistant City Attorney Bob Asleson, and other City officials attended a Committee of the Whole Meeting with the Duluth City Council last evening (December 27) to discuss this issue. The consensus by the City Council was to proceed with drafting an agreement, which the council will consider adopting at a meeting to be held on January 10th, 2013 at 5:30 pm in the City Council Chambers. The Town Board of Supervisors for Midway Township will consider the Joint Resolution at meeting to be held on January 10th, 2013 at 7 pm in the Midway Town Hall. Attorneys for both the City of Duluth and Midway Township are now drafting the agreement.
