A decade ago, a group of dedicated people worked to create the Clayton Jackson McGhie memorial in downtown Duluth.
The memorial commemorates the lynching of three young African American men who were falsely accused of a crime.

Thousands of citizens gathered in the streets for the memorial's initial dedication.

Today Duluthians gathered at the Ordean building to remember, and watch a film on the realities of racial inequality.

The remainder of this week will feature events to help commemorate the victims and celebrate the success of the memorial.

"We are the only city that has the monument that memorializes victims of a lynching, so we are famous around the country for our memorial," says Jodi Broadwell, Co-Chair of Clayton Jackson McGhie Memorial Inc.

Clayton Jackson Memorial Inc. will host its first Youth Spoken Word night tomorrow, at the memorial.

If this event is successful they say to host the event once a month.
