Cloquet, Min. (NNCNOW.com) -- After finding out his son was dropped off at the wrong bus stop, Todd DeFoe is questioning the responsibility of the Cloquet Transit bus Company.
"That is pretty much every parent's worst nightmare. That your kid has been misplaced, in any situation," said DeFoe.
On Wednesday, DeFoe received a call from Washington Elementary School in Cloquet informing him that his 8–year–old son was dropped off at the wrong place after school.
His son was supposed to be dropped off at his home, but when he missed his stop, he was taken to the Fond du Lac Tribal Center and left there by the bus driver.
He said people inside the tribal center questioned his son about why he was there and then called the school.
DeFoe is concerned by what he calls a lack of responsibility by the busing staff.
He says this is even more relevant after a six– year–old Bemidji girl recently died after being exposed to the cold.
"What I don't understand is how the busing staff, knowing that this kid had missed his stop, were able to drive away and not be concerned that he was missing," said DeFoe.
The Cloquet school district contracts its bus services out to Cloquet Transit Company. They declined to comment on the incident.
DeFoe said he is having the Cloquet Police Department investigate the incident so this doesn't happen to another child.
"We trust people with our kids, and if they do not abide that trust what are we supposed to do?" said DeFoe.
