Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of a small hull fracture reported on the Canadian vessel Atlantic Huron, at anchor outside of the Duluth-Superior Harbor, Friday evening.

Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Duluth personnel are responding to the incident to determine the extent of the reported damage and verify adequacy of the temporary repairs.

There was originally a concern over a fluorescent green discoloration coming from the ship, however that has been determined to be non-threatening to marine life.

Assisting in the response are crews from Coast Guard Station Duluth, and Sector Sault Sainte Marie, Mich.

The vessel's owner is V Ships Canada, Inc.
