Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com)-- It's no secret that hockey runs through your veins here in Minnesota.

"I've been playing hockey since I could walk," said Ian Leier, a fan of Team USA.

"I started playing hockey when I was about five years old so I guess for my whole life," said Kody Pierce, a team USA fan.

"It's a part of growing up where I'm from , all Canadians are hockey fans, right?," said Allison Warren, Team Canada.

And it's that love for the sport that drew dozens to Grandma's Saloon and Grill in Canal Park to watch the border battle... U-S-A vs Canada... Olympics semi-final game on Friday. It was an afternoon of camaraderie, beer drinking and fans with their eyes on the prize.

After Canada beat the United States women's team Thursday for the gold medal, fans were hoping the men would shoot for redemption. But it was not to be. Canada ended up beating the U-S one to zero to advance to the gold medal game.

"Slightly disappointed could have been a lot better effort out there, but oh well," said Leier.

"They played a pretty good game . They had a lot of opportunities. Played really well but they just couldn't bury it in the end," said Pierce.

One person not disappointed was Allison Warren, a lifelong, die- hard Canada fan. And the only Canada fan in the bar.

"So excited! Women got the gold yesterday, so hopefully men will get it on Sunday," said Warren.

One thing is for certain, regardless of whether their team wins or loses, team loyalty persists

"TEAM USA ALL THE WAY," said Leier.

"USA ALL THE WAY," said Pierce.

GO CANADA!WOOOO!," said Warren.

The U.S. will now play Finland on Saturday for the Bronze Medal.

Canada will play Sweden on Sunday in the Gold Medal game.

That game will air live here on KBJR 6 and Range 11 at 6 am.
