Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- The Department of Natural Resources is reminding anglers of the upcoming deadline for removing ice fishing shelters.
Structures must be off the lake by midnight on Monday, March 5 in the southern two-thirds of the state of Minnesota.
Because of the mild winter weather conditions, there have been spotty ice surfaces.
If shelters are not removed by the deadline, the owners will be prosecuted and the shelters may be confiscated and removed, or destroyed by a conservation officer.
After the removal date, the strctures may stay on the ice between midnight and one hour before sunrise when occupied.
