Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The demolition of the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome is one month ahead of schedule. The last truck with debris left the stadium at 1 p.m. Thursday.
The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority says demolition included the following:
–Metrodome roof deflation January 18, 2014
–Roof support cables severed February 2, 2014
–Beginning of stadium structural demolition February 10, 2014
–Ring beam implosion February 23, 2014
–Substantial completion of demolition April 16, 2014
–Stadium structural demolition duration 9.5 weeks
–Specified demolition completion date May 15, 2014
–Demolition completed ahead of schedule 4 weeks
Construction for the new Minnesota Multi–Purpose Stadium (MMPS) is on schedule. The 65,000 seat, 1.7 million square–foot, facility's construction is expected to be complete in July 2016.
