Hermantown, MN (NNCNOW.com) -- A driver crashed into a parked garbage truck Thursday morning leading t to critical injuries and emergency personnel to rescue the driver from the car.
Hermantown Police and Fire Rescue responded to the 5800 block of Morris Thomas Road around 5:35 a.m.
Upon arrival, authorities located a car with heavy front-end damage blocking the roadway and a disposal truck parked nearby.
Preliminary investigation of the crash scene indicates the garbage truck was stopped on the edge of the roadway collecting garbage from a roadside bin, when the car crashed into front end of the truck.
The driver of the garbage truck was outside his vehicle at the time of the accident.
The 33-year-old driver of the car was unconscious, bleeding and trapped in the car.
Evidence located at the scene indicated that alcohol may have been a contributing a factor in this crash.
