Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Fans of folk music were treated to the sweet sounds of dulcimers at the Coppertop Church throughout the day Saturday.

The festivities were all part of Dulcimer Day in Duluth.

In addition to listening, attendees were also given the opportunity to put their skills to the test.

Classes were held throughout the day for beginners and experienced players alike, followed by a concert and an open mic session for those brave enough to strum their stuff on stage.

"They get to hear other performers," said event coordinator Wendy Grethen, "they get to meet other players. [They] kind of build enthusiasm for folk instrument playing and then play themselves, [and] make music."

The festival is in its thirteenth year in Duluth.
