Duluth Aquarium Chooses Octopus Theme For Parade

Duluth, MN (Northland's Newscenter) - Members of the Duluth Aquarium are assembling their float for the Christmas City of the North parade.

This year's theme? It's all about the octopus—Einstein the octopus that is.

In years past, the aquarium's floats were either sewn or nailed together, but this year, the primary material is papier–mâché.

"We like to showcase exhibit or new animal every year. And we got Einstein in April when he was about this big, and now he's about this big. But he's not this big—its makes a much better looking float, so this would be a giant pacific octopus," Mary Pensak, parade float coordinator, said.

Mary says all of the materials to build the float cost lest than 100 dollars.

The Christmas City of the North Parade kicks off this Friday at 6:20 in the evening just outside the KBJR/KDLH studios.
