Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Duluth City Council is considering a resolution that would increase the Mayor's salary by nearly $20,000.
According to the resolution submitted by Councilor Sharla Gardner, the city council is considering raising the Mayor's salary from $78,000 to $97,500. The resolution states that the Mayor's salary has not increased since 2000.
City employees have received general wage increases since 2000 because of bargaining units, however the Mayor's position has not been part of those wage increases.
This proposed resolution would also establish a Mayor Salary Review Committee. The committee would be comprised of city council personnel and three community leaders who are selected, appointed and approved by the city council.
