Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) -- Duluth Firefighters will be on city streets over the next two days raising money for muscular dystrophy.

The annual "Fill the Boot" event was started 60 years ago by the International Association of Fire Fighters.

Last year, the Duluth Fire Department raised about $36,000 to help send kids with the disease to summer camp.

"This is a great chance for us to get out into the community and smile with people. A lot of times when we are going to see people it's on their worst day so this gives us a chance to get out and shake people's hands and raise money for a really good cause," said Dan Smith, a Duluth Firefighter

Firefighters will be at several locations collecting money including Woodland Avenue and Arrowhead and Central Entrance and Arlington Avenue.
