Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com)--- 21-year-old Abraham Lamin says he was walking to the Super America gas station just before six last night when he was approached by three guys who thought he remembers as being involved in an incident that happened more than a month ago.
An argument ensued, and Lamin says he turned away and began walking down the alley, heading home.
He says that's when he was attacked and robbed by the men.
21-year-old Abraham Lamin says he was trying to fight all three men on his own and felt like he was fighting for his life.
That's when he says one of the men pulled out a handgun, and shot him in his right leg.
"All of a sudden, somebody just shot. I didn't feel when he shot me right in my right leg, fool, I didn't feel no pain I thought they missed so I was running towards my guys. And my man told me like bro, stop you got shot. So I looked down my leg. My whole right leg was bleeding, you know what I mean. and I fainted, I passed out on the concrete and somebody called the police, they called the ambulance," said shooting victim, Abraham Lamin, who was shot once in the leg.
Lamin said the bullet went through the front of his leg, coming out the back.
"One of the Mexican dudes took off my belt to slow down the pressure on my leg, he tied the belt around my leg and stuff so the pressure can slow down," said Lamin.
Duluth police have a slightly different story.
They say the men were fighting with Lamin over a bag in the alley near the Whole Foods Co-Op.
Jessica Benson watched the whole situation happen from her window across from Whole Foods.
"I was sitting in my living room and I had the windows open, we have a desk right next to the window, so I was sitting there and I heard a gunshot," said Jessica Benson, who witnessed the events after the shooting.
Benson says she then saw Lamin run toward the Whole Foods Co-Op and collapse on the curb.
"And then we saw what we thought was the shooter running away from the scene ducking between two buildings," said Benson.
Witnesses say the suspect took off eastbound carrying the victim's bag.
Police say this is not a random act...but Lamin told us he does not know the men who attacked him.
"I don't who did what, I don't who shot me, somebody shot me," said Lamin.
Lamin was rushed to the hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released last night.
"I thank god that I'm still alive, it could have been worse," said Lamin.
Meanwhile, police continue to search for a suspect in this shooting.
Police describe the suspect as a black man, around 18 or 19 years old.
They say he's around 5'8" tall with a thin build.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
This is not the first shooting to happen in that same location.
22-year-old Deandre Norwood was shot in the head outside of his
apartment, across the street from the Whole Foods Co-op in May of 2013.
Police arrested 27-year-old Dameon Henley, who is now serving three years in prison on a guilty plea to making terroristic threats.
