Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) -- If you happen to be strolling down the Lakewalk, you may have noticed some construction.
While it's not much to look at now, city officials are making way for an anchor from the USS Duluth.
The ship is going to be scrapped but a few artifacts from the vessel were available to salvage.
The anchor will be located next to the veteran's memorial on the Lakewalk.
"Volunteers traveled down to Texas to pick up the anchor and brought it back up here. Right now they are polishing it up to make it look really nice and as the city does the work on the landscaping here it should all come together," said Daniel Fanning, Duluth Communications Manager.
City officials are planning on a ceremony for volunteers and crew members set for August 22.
