Duluth Man Arrested in Connection with Attempted Car Theft

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A 33 year old Duluth man has been arrested for allegedly trying to steal a car along the 100 Block of East First Street.

Police were called to the scene Wednesday morning. An initial investigation revealed that the victim's car had been rummaged through and it was not drive-able because of damage to the ignition area.

A surveillance camera showed a man entering the car in a parking lot on Tuesday. The man stayed inside for about 20 minutes before leaving on foot.

Investigators recognized the suspect and put out an attempt to locate on the man. The suspect was found a short time later in the #10 Block of North 2nd Avenue East and arrested.

The suspect is currently being lodged at the St. Louis County Jail and is waiting on formal charges of Felony Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft and Misdemeanor Motor Vehicle Tampering.

The suspect has been convicted of 2nd Degree Burglary, 3rd Degree Burglary, Motor Vehicle Tampering, Domestic Assault, 5th Degree Assault and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in the past.
