Duluth Man Charged with Aiding Murder Suspect

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A Duluth man has been charged with aiding a 17-year-old who is accused of murder in the death of 27-year old Bryan Starnes.

33-year-old Kenneth Johnson, the boyfriend to the mother of 17-year-old murder suspect Enrique Robert Giner III, appeared in State District Court in Duluth on Monday and was charged with one felony count of aiding an offender.

The charges come after investigators received information about Johnson aiding the suspect after the homicide. Investigators do not believe he was at the victim's residence when the homicide occured. However, he later obstructed investigators by not providing information and providing misleading information.

Johnson is accused of helping Giner with selling property stolen from the victim's home and allegedly received money from the property that was sold.

He is currently being held at the St. Louis County Jail. Bail was set at $50,000. Johnson was also granted an order for a public defender.

His next court appearance is scheduled for April 17.

Meanwhile, Enrique Giner is being held at the Arrowhead Juvenile Center on murder charges after police say he beat and stabbed Starnes more than 50 times.
