Duluth Mayor gets national press for pay raise decision

July 16, 2014 Updated Jul 16, 2014 at 8:17 PM CDT

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Duluth Mayor Don Ness and Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg share a common bond.

A National Public Radio story published Tuesday highlights why some politicians turn down free money.

Mayor Ness turned down a 25 percent pay raise in December.
The salary hasn't been raised in a decade.

The Mayor took to Facebook today to give some insight on that decision and once again dispelling rumors of seeking higher office.

Comments from constituents continued to push the mayor to seek a third term, a decision he say he's still sleeping on.

For now, the Mayor tells us he's focused on the next 18 months in office.

He's expected to make a decision on a third term this fall.
