Duluth Methadone Clinic Files Appeal to License Revocation Order

October 3, 2012 Updated Oct 3, 2012 at 4:59 PM CST

DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - The Lake Superior Treatment Center in Duluth, which treats opiate addictions using methadone, has filed an appeal to an order revoking its license.

That revocation was scheduled to take effect Monday.

The order had come after investigators found dozens of violations, that had been pointed out earlier, hadn't been corrected during a visit to the facility in August.

Those violation included large councilor caseloads and inadequate monitoring of take home methadone control practices.

Regardless of the outcome of this appeal, St. Louis County officials says they plan to pursue an alternative methadone clinic in Duluth, a clinic one commissioner said would be, "about treatment, not simply dispersing methadone."
