Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- In November the Duluth city council passed a resolution to support two new dog parks in Duluth.
Tuesday night, city leaders met with the public to hear input on the proposal and discuss a proposed site in Observation Park.
Some city councilors say they've seen positive feedback about the city's existing dog parks and there is a need for more.
Those who oppose the creation of a new dog park fear it would limit the potential uses of Observation Park.
But city councilor Sharla Gardner says dog parks often enhance the overall quality of life throughout a city.
"It is good for the dogs, it is good for the owners, it is good for the neighborhoods. And if a dog is well exercised you're going to see a well behaved dog," said Gardner.
City officials have identified Russell Square as the other potential dog park location.
Funds for the dog parks would come entirely from donations from those who support the new parks.
However the upkeep would have to be paid for by the city.
