Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --The Duluth Rotary club got an update on the where Polymet is in the process of its proposed copper–nickel mine near Hoyt Lakes.
The company experienced some set backs due to the government shutdown.
The environmental impact statement for NorthMet mining project was scheduled to come out in November, but is now scheduled to come out in December.
Brad Moore, Vice President of environmental and governmental affairs for Polymet explained where they are in the environmental assessment of the mine and what people can expect through the public comment process.
"The public comment period begins here in early December its important that people take part, weather you are a proponent of the mine or a opposed to it to go to those open houses when they are scheduled and learn more about the project and make your comments known because that is part of the process," said Moore.
Besides copper and nickel, the mine will produce gold, cobalt, platinum, and palladium.
