January 21, 2014 Updated Jan 21, 2014 at 12:32 PM CDT

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Duluth City Council is currently accepting applications for the recently vacated Second District Council Seat.

City officials are encouraging residents of the Second District to apply for the seat previously held by Patrick Boyle. Boyle was elected last week to fill the District Two seat on the Saint Louis County Board left vacant following the death of Steve O'Neil.

Candidate applications are available in the City Clerks’ Office as well as online on the City of Duluth's website.

Pending approval at the next Council Meeting, January 27, the appointment process will include an application deadline of 4:30 pm on January 31, 2014.

The City Council will conduct candidate interviews on February 6th and rank their top three choices at a special council meeting at 5 pm on February 10th.
