Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Duluth city council met Monday to discuss moving forward with filling vacant city council seats, and to discuss progress on plans for the new DTA multi-modal facility.

The council unanimously passed having specific councilors work with the Charter commission to study a potential Charter amendment to address filling city council vacancies.

Councilor Sharla Gardener says the council will explore various options, such as calling for special election or using the current appointment process, going forward.

The council also approved of moving forward with a portion of construction on the DTA multi-modal facility.

The plan calls for the existing transit center to be connected to the new multi-modal transit facility on West Michigan Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue West.
