Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - While the Healthy Duluth Area Coalition is encouraging Northlanders to get there by bus, by bike, or by your own two feet this May, Saturday's sunshine means motorcyclists are also taking to the streets.

To celebrate the kick off to riding season, Duluth–based motorcycle performance gear manufacturers AEROstich held an open house to highlight their latest designs and plans.

The handmade textile manufacturer has been in business for 31 years, and has plans to continue with its expansion project in the coming year. Those plans include adding a riders' lounge, and designing a more retail–friendly entryway.

Aerostitch sales and business development director Lynn Wisneski says the company encourages the widespread use of motorcycles as the best way to promote cycle safety, and awareness.

"Because then you're more familiar with it, you're more comfortable, you're more aware of your surroundings, and of traffic," said Wisneski, standing in front of some of their latest performance wear.

Wisneski says more renovations will hopefully begin in late winter or early spring of 2015.

May is also Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.
