Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Speed skater and Duluth native Anna Ringsred is one step closer to becoming a first–time Olympian at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

Ringsred has been busy undergoing speed skating trials in the women's 3,000 meter category in the weeks leading up to the 2014 Olympic Games.

No US woman has finished in the top 10 of a World Cup 3,000 meter in the past three seasons.

The 29–year–old will be a part of the Olympic team as long as no more than 10 different women's skaters qualify over the five distance total at trials.

While it isn't her first attempt to make an Olympic team, earning a slot on this year's team would be a first for Ringsred.
