Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Duluth Police say they've preliminarily identified the body found in Duluth's Lincoln Park neighborhood Tuesday.

They say it is almost certainly the body of 74 year old Dale Gerard who disappeared on July 20th of last year from her assisted living home off Grand Avenue.

Gerard was last seen getting off a D-T-A bus on Piedmont Avenue and 7th Street.

On Tuesday, police were called to the intersection of 19th avenue west and 2nd street after a passerby noticed a decomposed body along a fence and brush line about 100 yards north of the intersection.

The body was taken to the St. Louis County medical examiner's office and that's where final identification will come from.

Authorities say final confirmation will come from the County Medical Examiner's Office in two to three days.

Police say it could take the medical examiner's office several weeks to determine the manner and cause of death.

Numerous coordinated searches by the St. Louis County Rescue Squad and Duluth Police took place trying to find Gerard.
