Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- Duluth's top cop and top firefighter were named Wednesday at a ceremony at the Radisson Hotel.

For years, the Kiwanis Club of Friendly Duluth has taken the time to honor the people who protect us from crime and flame.

The police officer award went to Angela Robertson who was unable to attend due to an illness in the family.

Conrad Sunde earned the firefighter award.
He feels he is just a small part in protecting the public.

"All of us work hard on the Duluth fire department and we train everyday. All of us, my colleagues, respond to calls where we put our lives on the line," said Sunde.

Sunde earned the honor for always taking on the dirtiest jobs on fire scenes.

Robertson earned her award for keeping an eye on an elderly couple with dementia that live on her beat.
