Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The coffee market in the Twin Ports is heating up.

Canton, Massachusetts-based Dunkin' Donuts is in the process of building its brand in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Company officials confirmed Thursday they have their sights set on launching franchise opportunities in the Twin Cities and Duluth.

Those opportunities could include up to five locations, according to Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce officials.

"Dunkin' is an iconic brand that has roots in the area and now is coming back into the state of Minnesota. They've identified the Twin Cities and Duluth as potential markets for growth," said Ann Robertson with the Chamber.

The expansion calls for 10 Dunkin' Donuts locations in the Twin Cities.

An investor conference call for Minnesota is planned for January 21st.

The Dunkin' Brands website states requirements for a franchisee vary by market, but the lowest requirements are $250K minimum liquid assets and $500K minimum net worth per unit.

Dunkin' Brands also includes Baskin Robins.

Other businesses slated to open their doors in Duluth this year include Panera Bread, Chipotle and Qdoba.
