Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Enbridge Energy kicked off Red Cross Month with a bang today, presenting the Northland Chapter with a leadership contribution of $10,000.
“The American Red Cross is an important partner for Enbridge Energy, and this gift is made in recognition of their importance to the local community and the nation,” says Lorraine Little, Sr. Manager of US Public Affairs.
March was first proclaimed as Red Cross Month 70 years ago by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Since 1943, every president, including President Obama, has designated March as Red Cross Month.
Today, the Northland Chapter kicks off its “Campaign for Corporations,” with a goal of raising a total of $20,000 for local programs and services by March 30.
“I can’t tell you how much leadership gifts, like this one from Enbridge, means to the chapter,” said Chapter Executive Director Judy Hanne Gonzalez.
The Northland Chapter responds to about 100 local disasters annually. Red Cross disaster relief includes emergency housing, food, clothing, medicine and medical supplies, eyeglasses, health services, and disaster counseling.
