Esko, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Students attending the Esko School District are now armed with a new learning tool, an iPad.

Students in grades four through 12th will be using the iPads on a one on one basis this school year.

School officials say the iPad distribution this week is a part of the district's digital engagement initiative.

Over the next five years, the district's goal is to save money spent on text book and paper by going to an all- digital curriculum.

"I think the ultimate goal is to just give kids opportunities to calibrate with their learning instead of sitting their seats and listening to a lecture and taking notes," said Ben Haugen, a math teacher in the district.

Kindergarten through 3rd grade will have six iPads per room.
