Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Essentia Health is preparing for a nationwide search to replace their current CEO Dr. Peter Person.
Dr. Person plans to retire in 2015 after years of experience as an Internal Medicine specialist to a CEO.

Dr. Person will be ending his time at Essentia Health after joining the Duluth Clinic in 1981 as an internist, and in 1997 he became the CEO of the SMDC Health System. Dr. Person has been Essentia Health's CEO since they opened their doors in 2004.

"Essentia Health exists today because of Peter's vision and leadership," Essentia Health Board Chairman, Richard Blair, said. "You really can't overstate the role Peter played in building this health system. The average tenure of a CEO is about four and a half years. Peter's tenure has been 20 years."

Essentia Health is looking to hire an experienced physician with a lot of administrative leadership.
