Cloquet, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Family and friends gathered in Cloquet Wednesday night to mourn the loss of Terence Rodney Luukkonen the victim of a fatal shooting in Superior.

His untimely death has left people wondering how a tragedy like this could have happened to such a great guy.

Many people remember him as a kind hearted, generous man who was fun to be around.

Friends and family say his smile and laughter was contagious.

He was active in many sports such as softball, volleyball, and broomball.

He was the captain of a broomball team the "Superior Machine."

In an interview last Friday, teammate and friend, Eric O'Heara, told us just how great of a guy Luukkonen was.

"You feel like you'd knew him forever. He cared about people caring about each other. He cared about making everyone better. He was an amazing person," said O'Heara.

Luukkonen died last week after he was shot in the head while he sat in his car at Genesis Attachments where he worked.

His family wants everyone to know they appreciate the community's support through this tragic time in their lives.

Visitation will continue on Thursday, May 30 from Noon to 1 pm at Handevidt funeral Home in Cloquet with the funeral to follow.
