Cook, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Iron Range Firefighters battled smoke and flames at a building in Cook, Minnesota Monday.

Crews responded to the Dollar Barn on South River Street just before 7 p.m.

The building contains the business on the lower level and eight apartment units upstairs.

The fire also impacted another business, Gilley's Naturals.

An excavator was brought in just before midnight to demolish the Dollar Barn building. Officials on scene said the building was a total loss.

The American Red Cross said early Tuesday it is assisting eight people affected by the fire. The organization is providing shelter, clothing, food and emotional support.

People can help those affected by this and similar disasters by making a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief.
