Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.COM) - Firefighters continues to look for the cause of a fire that destroyed a Virginia home Wednesday, claiming the lives of the owner's two dogs.
No one was home when Virginia firefighters got to the scene around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
When the homeowner got home she tried to rush into her house to save her dogs but firefighters had to hold her back because of the intensity of the flames.
After venting the house with large fans firefighters were able to get inside but the blaze had spread through the house by that time.
"Just to remind people you never go back into a fire to rescue pets or anything else. It doesn't pay. Fires move very fast and it's not worth your life to rescue any things or pets or anything," said Assistant Chief Anthony Krulc.
Firefighters say the house suffered considerable damage and cannot be occupied.
