Firefighters battle house fire in Duluth Heights neighborhood

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Duluth firefighters spent two and a half hours battling a house fire on Stroll Avenue in Duluth on Friday morning.

Just before 9 a.m. crews responded to call from a neighbor of a report of a fire at 407 Stroll Avenue in the Duluth Heights neighborhood.

When crews arrived, heavy smoke was seen coming from the roof and
rear of the single story, single family home.

According to the fire officials, firefighters entered the home and quickly knocked down fire in the kitchen.

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen, before spreading
into the dining room.

No one was home at the time of the fire. A dog in the basement of the home was not injured.

Officials say there was significant heat and smoke damage throughout the house.

Initial damage estimate is $80,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
