Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Along with the President, the Twin Cities was also the site Thursday of one of three memorial services this week for the late former U.S. Congressman Jim Oberstar.

Thursday's memorial service was held in the Cowles Auditorium at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Oberstar, who represented Minnesota's Eighth District in Washington D.C. for over three decades, died at the age of 79 at the beginning of May. A private memorial was held for Oberstar at a church in Maryland at the beginning of the month.

Friday there will be a memorial service in the Harborview Ballroom at the DECC in Duluth, starting at one.

That will be followed by a memorial service at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chisholm at six.
