Fiscal Cliff: Rallies Across Minnesota

December 10, 2012 Updated Dec 10, 2012 at 10:12 PM CDT

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Rallies across Minnesota called for extened tax cuts for the middle class as Federal lawmakers scramble to figure out how to avoid the fiscal cliff.

One rally took place outside the Minneapolis office of state Senator Amy Klobuchar.

Protestors spoke out about expanding Medicare and social security as well as promoting green energy and cuts for military spending.

Concerned Duluthians also rallied through the cold temperatures Monday at the Minnesota Power Plaza.

"Right now, our community is looking at devastating cuts to Medicare, social security, and Medicaid. These are all programs that working families rely on and that all affect us as individuals and our community," Zach Sias, North East Area Labor Council, said.

People at the Duluth rally say that their candlelight event was to pressure law makers to say no to any cuts in Medicaid, Medicare, and social security benefits.
