Carlton, MN (Northlands NewsCenter)
-- A few days remain for those homes damaged by June's historic flood to be filled with hope, but the deadline is quickly approaching.
Monday is the last day for flood survivors to apply for federal low-interest disaster recovery through the campaign Flood Homes with Hope.
Even though about 1-million dollars a week has been flowing into reconstruction and repairs, more than 200 homes may not be habitable for the winter due to remaining damages.
Just applying for an SPA loan is important because your name is in the system for other types of flood relief.
"The initial ask needs to be made, and if they have this and they've been refused, then the names have been passed down, and on," said Representative Mary Murphy in Carlton Thursday.
3 Million more dollars of aid is available, but only if over 100 more people apply for an SPA loan.
Flood Homes With Hope will operate three help centers on Saturday.
