Flu shots being offered to uninsured residents in St. Louis County

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- St. Louis County public health nurses are offering free flu shots to any uninsured or under-insured people.

Health officials say the flu season typically peaks in January or later, and it takes about two weeks after vaccination for a body to develop the antibodies needed to protect against the virus.

Now they say is time for those shots.

The free flu shots for those six months and older will be available at two events, held in conjunction with Ruby's Pantry food distributions.

The first walk-in clinic will be held this Thursday, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Duluth.

The second clinic will be Tuesday, January 7, from 3:30-6:15 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Rectory, in Morgan Park.

No appointments are necessary.
