Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) Sample good things to eat while learning a thing or two about food and edible gardening at the Lafayette Community Edible Garden’s first Park Point Garden and Food Festival on Friday, August 19, 2011, from noon to 3 p.m. at Lafayette Square, 3026 Minnesota Avenue.
The festivities include award-winning Minnesota cookbook authors selling & signing their books, cooking demos and tastings, a culinary flea market, and skilled and master gardeners on hand for personal garden therapy sessions.
Meet local food celebrities Bea Ojakangas and Arlene Coco, Ojibwe scholar Marlene Wisuri, and doyennes of the Twin City food scene Janice Cole (Chicken and Egg; A Memoir of Suburban Homesteading with 125 Recipes), Mary Evans (Bistro Chicken), Barb Strand (Smooth and Tasty, Easy to Swallow Foods), Pat Sinclair (Scandinavian Classic Baking).
Food demonstrations provided by Byerly’s representatives.
The Duluth Community Garden Program’s Kale Ambassadors will also be on hand to promote their 2011 One Vegetable-One Community initiative.
