Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A former Hermantown school board member must pay $24,535 in restitution as part of her sentence for felony theft.

42–year–old, Stephanie Hamell was charged with stealing more than $20,000 dollars in jewelry and cash from a friend.

The friend alleged she asked Hamell to hold on to $5,000 dollars in cash and store $16,500 dollars in jewelry, in Hamell's house safe.

The friend told police she didn't get her money or her diamonds back.
The court ruled that Hamell won't go to jail as long as she makes her scheduled restitution payments.
