Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Four Northland women were honored Wednesday for their leadership within the community.

The honorees were part of the Duluth Y-W-C-A's tenth annual 'Women of Distinction' awards.

This year's nominees were women from the St Louis County Health and Human Services Department CHUM, Mending the Sacred Hoop and the Duluth Playhouse.

Ellen O'Neill, Executive Director of the Y-W-C-A, says the awards are all about showcasing and celebrating the leadership of the women of Duluth.

"It's really important to let the community know that since the beginning of this community, women have been in leadership and have built things and continue to build things and really celebrate that because often that doesn't happen," said O'Neill.

Thirty women have been honored for their leadership in the last ten year.
