Duluth, MN (Northlands Newscenter)
-- Fox 21 has issued a formal apology after their News Director made a facebook comment that drew criticism for being racist.

The statement says that Fox 21 does not condone his behavior and that they are truly sorry for this incident. News Director Jason Vincent made a comment on his facebook page about a Native American referencing alcohol and homelessness.

A group gathered in solidarity before the apology was issued in front of Fox 21. Members of the unfair campaign say that addressing this issue is crucial to creating an open and honest community.

"There are many individuals that fit what Jason Vincent has done here through out the community here so that's what we want to address," said Ricky Defeo with the Duluth American Indian Commission.

Vincent will be back at work on Monday after being on vacation. Fox 21 will issue an on air apology in their newscasts tonight.

Here is the statement from Fox 21 Station Manager Jackie Bruenjes:

"Jason Vincent has apologized for making his statement on Facebook. Jason was on personal time and he will not be returning until Monday.

We here at KQDS Fox 21 TV do not condone this behavior. There will be a statement on the Fox 21 News tonight.

We are truly sorry this incident occurred."
