Cloquet, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Carlton County Historical Society is celebrating its 65th birthday with 65 treasures that highlight the county's diverse history.
One historic treasure they can't fit in their museum in Cloquet, however, is the Frank Lloyd Wright filling station, still in operation.
Architect Byron Stadsvold was at the historical society Monday afternoon talk to the audience about the early start of the internationally known architect, with a focus on his Minnesota and Cloquet connections.
He says it's rare that a noted architect of Wright's legacy has put so much work into a gas station.
"Historically, it's the only one that got built, and I think that's very important and very much should be preserved as long as it can be," said Stadsvold before the presentation.
Audience members were also encouraged to vote for their favorite of the 65 treasures currently on display at the historical society.
One of those treasures is an original Frank Lloyd Wright architectural drawing of the filling station he designed just next door.
