Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Furloughs for technicians with the Minnesota National Guard started this week as part of sequestration.
A total of 2,100 total full-time military personnel will have one furlough day a week for 11 weeks.
Nearly 240 federal technicians are affected at the Duluth-based 148th Fighter Wing.
Officials with the Minnesota National Guard say no one is exempt from the cost-saving measure.
"This is an unprecedented furlough. We never have done it before. We don't know the impact it will have, but apparently the government is willing to take that risk," said Army Lt. Col Jon Lovald.
The Furloughs will continue through the end of September unless the Government is able to work out things before then.
