Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com)--- A community organizer from Duluth has tossed his hat into the ring for the Minnesota House District 7-A seat currently held by Tom Huntley.
Gary Anderson confirmed his plans to enter the race today with a kick-off campaign at Carmody Irish Pub and Brewery in Duluth.
Anderson is an organizer for Minnesota United and was very active in defeating the state's constitution that banned gay marriage.
Representative Huntley announced earlier this month that he will not seek re election after he finishes his eleventh term in office later this year.
Anderson told the crowd what he intends to focus on with his campaign
."We listened to thousands of voters talk about what was important to them. I am still listening, and what I hear my neighbors and friends telling me that education is important, our natural resources are important and living wages are important. Those are the issues which will be the primary focus of my campaign," said Anderson.
Anderson joins three other democratic candidates and two Republicans who have announced their intent to run for Huntley's seat.
