Cloquet, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Starting Wednesday, motorists in Cloquet will be taking an alternate route to businesses along Highway 33 that are accessible by Gillette Avenue.

Just after midnight Wednesday, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will be closing the Gillette Avenue entrance to Walmart, Wendy's, and other businesses for seven days.

Traffic will be directed to the Doddridge intersection, and an alternate entrance to the stores.

Officials say the entrance closure is necessary as crews install new concrete pavement along 33, as part of the Highway's reconstruction project, now in its eighth week.

Crews say the project is running about a week behind, but expect traffic to return to normal after September 12th.

The overall project won't be completed until October.

MN–DOT reminds motorists to always be attentive, slow down, and drive with caution in work zones.
