Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - That's why the Glen Avon Presbyterian Church is deciding to open its doors, once again, to more than 600 students from December sixteenth through the twentieth.
Sponsored by a variety of groups—from the University of Minnesota Duluth's Student Association, to Super One—the four day event will be providing everything from dozens of comfortable study rooms, to wireless internet, to the opportunity to purchase energy drinks for only $1.
Church members will also be providing two home–cooked meals a day, which head chef TJ Johnson said is much better than what the typical college student is used to.
"In the spring we did this, and I made a noodle sauce with white sauce and things in the noodles, and the kids said it was the best thing they'd eaten in a long time. So, you have to wonder what they're eating in their apartments and dorms," said Johnson, laughing. "But, it's really a balanced diet and it's something that's good to eat."
Glen Avon plans to serve more than 800 meals to students throughout the event at a suggested donation of 3 to 5 dollars.
