Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The call for women to "Go Red" is being put out.
The American Heart Association and SuperOne Foods is calling all applicants for its "Go Red for Women Makeover Challenge".
The challenge is celebrating its ten year anniversary and it asks participants to take part in a ten–week heart health makeover.
Those chosen for the makeover will begin with an initial wellness screening to get a baseline for height, weight, blood pressure and other related heart health numbers.
Former participant and now co–chair Stacey Askelson says the challenge is a good way to start making positive changes revolving around the number one killer of women in the nation.
"Basically the thing is women don't seem to take care of themselves," says Askelson. "It's usually them taking care of the rest of the household or their families. The number one killer in women is heart disease.
The last day to turn in your application is on November, 16th.
Applicants can print off a copy of the application at the American Heart Association's website.
The challenge kicks off on December 17th.
