St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton signed a bill Tuesday designating a portion of Highway 23 to be named after fallen Cold Spring Police Officer Tom Decker.

The eleven-mile stretch of road runs from Richmond to the eastern border of Wakefield Township and will be named "Officer Tom Decker Memorial Highway."

The bill was authored by Rep. Jeff Howe and Rep. Michelle Fischbach and passed the legislature last week with flying colors.

The highway will honor the life and memory of Officer Decker.

Decker was a six-year veteran of the Cold Spring Police Department when he was killed in action on November 29, 2012. He leaves behind a wife and four young children.
