St. Paul, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Governor Mark Dayton has issued an emergency Executive Order declaring a peacetime emergency in Carlton and St. Louis Counties.
This peacetime emergency has been declared due to severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall that caused major damage to Trunk Highway 210. This road has been reduced to one lane so far, but officials are considering closing off the road completely due to continued erosion.
Trunk Highway 210 provides access to the Minnesota Power Dam at Fond du Lac and Jay Cooke State Park.
This executive order authorizes the Minnesota Department of Transportation to use emergency funding from the Federal Highway Administration to repair Trunk Highway 210.
